The Trekking Route Through Bhutan’s High Valleys
Your journey starts in Paro, where you acclimatize among panoramic views and historic sanctuaries. Before the trek begins, visit the iconic Taktsang Monastery (“Tiger’s Nest”), ascending through pine forests, prayer flags fluttering in the breeze—an introduction both spiritual and breathtaking.

Paro: Gateway to the High Hills
Base Camp at Mount Jomolhari & Yak Paths
From Paro you begin stepping north. Hiking along the Paro River, passing isolated villages, you reach the base camp at Mount Jomolhari. Along this route you’ll move through forested slopes, cross streams, and share meals with yak herders, hearing tales carried on the wind.
Passing Lingshi & Onward to Laya
After resting at base camp, continue toward Lingshi, where high ridges afford silent panoramas. You might detour to visit Lingshi Dzong for its lofty views. Then onward to Laya, moving over valleys where stone huts stand and yak herds graze. In Laya, Buddhist culture remains vibrant—simple customs alive, butter tea shared, hats and textiles that tell tales.
Final Descent & Gasa’s Hot Springs
Your trek peaks with the descent into Gasa. Downhill through rolling meadows, pine and oak forests, with vistas opening to valleys below. On arrival in Gasa, reward yourself in the natural hot springs: warm water soaking away aches, steam rising, views over rugged ridgelines—an exquisite finish to an epic traverse.
