Meanwhile, the Samburu conservancies — Il Ngwesi, Kalama, Namunyak — are owned and operated by the Samburu people, with tourism revenue flowing directly to the communities. Walking safaris, night drives and off-road access are permitted throughout, and the camps are small enough that the landscape feels private.
As a result, the conservancy experience here is closer to Botswana’s Delta model than to anything else in Kenya — intimate, wild and conservation-led.
