Therefore, Positano suits travelers who want energy, restaurants within reach and the coast at its most theatrical. Those who want silence after dark should look east.
Ravello: Height, Gardens and the Quiet Alternative
Ravello sits three hundred and fifty meters above the sea, on a saddle between two valleys. The difference in temperature, noise and pace against the shoreline towns is immediate, and the view is the longest on the coast.
The trade-off is the water. Reaching a beach from Ravello involves a descent to Amalfi and a boat or a car, which turns swimming into an outing rather than an impulse.
